The building of the School of Medicine is designed as a single entity building which stands out for its introverted organization of functions and circulation. The recesses created in the building enable visual connection of the inner world with the surroundings, while creating a microclimate and controlling of natural daylight and ventilation. The building is located away from the pedestrian walkway -belvedere- of the UCY Campus in order for the School entity to emerge among the adjacent buildings, thus giving space to the growth of a garden on the existing topography. The building, exploiting the topography of the plot, is grown to levels that accommodate the functional groups required by the School Space Schedule. A promenade is developed around the central atrium of the building, exposing the movement between different areas and floors of the School and providing conditions for meetings and gatherings.
