Under the main theme of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, the Cyprus Participation with the project REVISIT-Customizing Tourism explores remodeling, upgrading and transformation of the touristic product and its infrastructure in Cyprus. Tourism is reviewed through architectural interventions aimed at revitalizing the built environment, the sustainability of cities, the creation of spatial and social networks that strengthen the common ground and the interaction between tourists and locals.
Visitors to the 13th International Architecture Exhibition la Biennale di Venezia approaching the Cyprus Pavilion found themselves opposite a game of shadows projected on a curved screen. Following the linear path of the panel, they were led into the hidden display space with the architectural proposals, where they were facing the stereotypical touristic scenery of a beach. Seated in one of the customized sunbeds, could bring in front of their eyes an attached viewing box with an integrated digital screen, where alternative landscapes of tourism in Cyprus were projected.
