The modernistic existing residence stood proudly within its context for the last few decades. The merge between the architect’s modern influences and the craftsmanship of the owner, as a specialist in marbles and mosaics, is obvious. A floating and light architecture is expressed by the introduction of pilotis that raised the architectural volume, lighten it and freed space for circulation, gardens and driveway under the construction. The exposed concrete structure is treated with care and hammered to reveal the mosaic chips used as aggregates. The horizontal surfaces are also covered by mosaics. The NEW respects the qualities of the OLD and carefully allows for the proposed residence to coexist on the ground level with a minor extension at the back to house the kitchen facilities on the ground level and provide/ compensate for external sitting area.
